Gear

"Lay out everything you need to take, divide it in half and take twice as much money". Just one of the many pieces of advice offered to us in the last few months.

Our list (and it all went pretty easily into two adult and two kid backpacks):
Clothes (one pant, one short, undies, socks, 2 short sleeve, shirts, hat, long sleeve shirt)
sandals, tennies, camera, video camera, power and pc cords, too many books (Lonely Planet Guide to Thailand, Asia Travel Health, Thailand map, Bangkok map, Lonely Planet Guide to Laos, Thai phrase book), toiletries, medicines, toilet paper, backpack lock, padlock, ultraviolet water purifier, power adapter (Asia is 220v), coloring books, pencils, notebooks, wipes, mosquito bed net, silk sleeping bags.

The funny part is that it seems like we take a lot more stuff when we go somewhere just for the weekend.

So, we're looking at your blog and trying to figure out what, where, why, etc.? Please put in a little background.

The UV sterilizer will only work on clear (non-cloudy with no particulates) water. If you have a problem with it let me know and I'll send you a MIOX pen. Much better (stronger, broader) sterilization.

Anyway, best of luck you crazy kids.
